In a move that underscores the rising influence of local talent in shaping the Maldives’ global tourism footprint, Visit Maldives has appointed Maldivian hospitality veteran Nasrulla Adam (widely known as Nasru) as its new Chief Commercial Officer (CCO).
Nasru’s journey is a testament to homegrown excellence. Beginning humbly at Sun Island Resort & Spa, he steadily built an extraordinary career spanning over 20 years, marked by key leadership roles at some of the most luxurious resorts in the Indian Ocean. From Anantara Kihavah and Huvafen Fushi to the elite Patina Maldives and Waldorf Astoria Maldives Ithaafushi, Nasru has been instrumental in developing and launching iconic properties that define the Maldives’ world-class reputation.
Notably, Nasru became the first Maldivian to serve as Director of Sales at the prestigious Baros Maldives; an achievement that inspired a new generation of local hospitality professionals. Most recently, he held the role of Director of Business Development for the Indian Ocean at JA Resorts & Hotels, where he oversaw both JA Manafaru in the Maldives and JA Enchanted Island in the Seychelles.
In his new position at Visit Maldives, Nasru will steer the organization’s commercial strategy, forge global partnerships, and explore new markets, all while keeping the Maldives’ unique brand of luxury and authenticity at the core of its messaging.
His appointment reflects more than just personal success; it’s part of a broader, meaningful shift toward Maldivians taking center stage in the development and promotion of the nation's leading industry.
At a time when tourism continues to evolve and diversify, Nasru’s deep industry insight and local perspective position him perfectly to lead Visit Maldives into its next chapter.
Maldives, led by Maldivians; this is the future, and Nasru is helping shape it.
